TABLE QUIZ
Jan/100
The club’s annual table quiz has been arranged for Wednesday 24th February in The Talbot Bar, Kenyon Street, Nenagh. A table consists of four players and cost €20 – just €5 a head for a great evening’s entertainment among good friends and colleagues. It starts at 9pm and we urge all club members to come along and bring at least three friends with them. This is the club’s only real fund-raiser of the year and we hope that all club members, even past or intending members will come along to join in the fun and hopefully win one of the many raffle prizes that will be available on the night.
REMINDER FOR RETURN OF LICENCE FORMS

Cyclist of the Year - Duncan Hodgins

Tracy with Santa
The Christmas dinner and prize giving was held on Sunday 13th December in The Fairways Bar and Restaurant in Kilruane and a truly great evening was enjoyed by the largest attendance ever! The food, thanks to chef Geoff Jones was superb and the staff were kindness itself and the party atmosphere continued all evening.
The main prize winners on the night were John Foote (Moynan TT Series), Liam Callaghan (Club road race champion), Will Murphy (Club hill-climb champion) and Duncan Hodgins who was not only Club TT Champion but was also awarded the Corrigan Cup as Cyclist of the Year. Congratulations to Duncan and to all the winners and to all those who took part and we hope that next season is every bit as good as 2009!

WINTER GROUP RIDES
Oct/090
Racing is over and leisure time begins! This means group rides on a Tuesday evening at 8pm on the N 52 bypass. Bike lights back and front plus hi-vis jackets are essential. The meeting place is Tesco’s car park and John Spillane can be contacted on 0872441661 for further details.
Sunday morning – meet at Moynan’s shop at 9.30am for a moderately paced group ride, lasting until approx. 12 noon.
Turbo sessions are also available in the athletics complex in Tyone on a Thursday evening from 7-8pm. This is in conjunction with the triathlon club. Contact Eamon Hartnett on 0872368158 for more info.
It is also hoped to get some mountain biking organised for the winter months as a non-club activity. Check with Eamon Hartnett on the above number for more details.
THE FLYING MILE
Oct/090

John O'Carroll heading for the day's fastest time
The racing season came to an end last Sunday with the annual contesting of the Flying Mile on the N52 bypass. Again, and in spite of not-so-nice weather, a great crowd turned out and as a result, instead of handicapping, the riders were divided into three groups of similar ability. However the star of the show was Eva Moynan, who at ten and a half recorded the excellent time of 3.32.
The first group was won by Neil Gallagher with John Caulfield and Ruth Spillane in joint second. Group two went to Kevin Byrne with Duncan Hodgins one second behind and Liam Callaghan one second adrift in third. Peter Moynan brought up the rear in that group. In the third group, John O’Carroll stormed to the fastest time of the day 2.09 with Mike O’Keeffe and John Spillane right behind him.
CHILDREN OF CHERNOBYL CYCLE
Oct/090
Saturday 17th October sees another running of the highly successful Cashel to Borrisokane cycle to raise funds for the Borrisokane branch of the Children of Chernobyl. The cycle is 47 miles in distance and starts from under the Rock of Cashel at 11am and as many riders as possible should take part for such a very worthy cause.
DATES FOR THE DIARY
Oct/090
The club’s AGM will be held on Monday 9th November at 8.30pm in the lounge bar of the Dapp Inn in Sarsfield Street. All members and intending members should make every effort to attend. We say this every year but it is important because the committee that is elected to run the club the way you want it run can only do so if you tell them what you want.
The second date to remember is the club’s Christmas dinner and this will be on Sunday 13th December at 6pm in the Fairways Bar and Restaurant in Kilruane. The season’s trophies will also be presented that evening so if you had “a podium place” in any of the races or TTs, please make a special effort to be there.
